in my dad's white tee

I don't usually wear t-shirts. But when I do, my laundry needs to be done, and I insist on telling everyone that I went to Woodstock High School. That being said, I don't buy t-shirts. I usually get them for free somehow. It's hard for me to judge t-shirt designs in terms of good or bad, because I'd rather wear it based on the material rather than what is being advertised, or designed. I get it from my dad, obviously. He doesn't care what his shirts say either.

But these designs look cool, too.

I like how the designs don't get stuck inside a box designating the "printable area." I like how the whole shirt becomes a canvas for the design/concept.

inspirations

I hate to admit that I'm not as aware of other artists' work as I probably should be as a designer. I hope that's something I grow more into as a develop myself. But I still heavily take in everything I see daily, and I've noticed that patterns really inspire me. Cracks in the sidewalk. Tiles in the bathroom. Colors around us. Sometimes, I feel like a design i come up with is missing something, only to realize that a pattern is all I need.

WORLD PEACE DAY!!

This is my poster dedicated to World Peace Day. The concept "Peace by Piece" comes from the theory that we can achieve World Peace by bringing just a piece of ourselves together to unite as one, even if we don't fit perfectly..

Contemporary Themes

Find a variety of contemporary trends in graphic design that you have an opinion about.
This might be video, print, multimedia and all faucets of visual communication that could even include stage design, exhibition design, costuming, photography, fine art, stage design, broadcast design.

I think that there are many current trends that are circulating the world right now that, in my opinion are pretty cool. I'm loving the "vintage/hipster" trend in logos featuring badges, diamonds, banners, and Futura. I like how simple they look, but they are sometimes so common that it's difficult to be "original" so they definitely have their limits. They make me wish I thought of it first, because you can almost take any brand and incorporate it into this style, and make it work, although it might not always fit the feel or voice of the actual brand.

5 of My Best Portfolio Pieces

I definitely worked hard on each one of my pieces from my entrance portfolio, but the following five are probably my favorite, and are most likely responsible for my acceptance into the Graphic Design Program here at GSU.

The Illustrative Alphabet Project: Ideas

I have some ideas for this next project...no sketches yet, but I thought I would at least get the ideas out first. Some of them have been done already, which will lead me to throw them out, but others are fresh.

- Bubble Foam/Soapy Alphabet
- Bacon Alphabet
- Alphabet carved from apples
- Orange Peel Alphabet
- Mustaches? (I don't know, but they're cool.)
- Chocolate chip cookie Alphabet (I would eat them all when I'm done.)
- Pipe Cleaners (This was my very first idea, and without googling it, I have a feeling it's been done more than once.
- Zip Ties
- Beadwork ... like letters made from beads
- Tongue sticking out with food on the tongue as the letters.
- chewed gum
- q-tips & cotton balls

Still coming up with ideas. I've been trying to look that things that aren't usually seen, or easily overlooked daily.

working resume

I don't know how to keep up with a blog.
But here we go.

I've also never really had a resume before, because I've never had to use one, honestly. I made one for fun a couple months ago, but it wasn't a design resume. It was one I would use for the service industry, and looking back at it, it's really ugly. But whatever.

I made this design resume today, and it looks so plain. Well, I made two. But I guess my goal is to lengthen it. The whole point of a "working resume." Gotta start somewhere.

That's it.
